Day 3! (from Carolyn) :)

Today was my second day at Life Source.  It was so much fun having the kids from Monday come up and give me a hug because they remembered me! :)  They are an amazing bunch of kids.  We played at recess again, had a spelling bee, did a word search, etc.  I really had fun with a little girl named Taylor.  She is 7 and ...

The Little Girl with the Pink Tshirt

I walked into LifeSource for the first time, and a little girl just ran up and hugged me. I had no idea who she was, just that she needed a friend. She had a pink tshirt and a dirty blonde ponytail. She had the biggest smile and she held onto me the whole day. Everywhere i went, she went. At first, I thought it was just something cute that all ...

Fish Funeral

The girls found a beautiful fish who was floating in a fountain today. Amanda took the fish out, Sami dug a grave and we all said a prayer before burying the fish. Rest in peace beautiful fish.

Tuesday

Yesterday I got to go back to Lifesource, a day camp for children who live at or below the poverty line. I love watching how much our youth interact and put those children first. Monday, we went and Sami started a game of Ninja and then an epic game of Octopus with the youth and children (about 50-60). Eventually, every child was playing ...

Beware!

Beware of room 17!  Scary angel staring at you when you enter the door.  This is the same room that Derek could not get into...then all of a sudden the door would open...and the hot water in the bathroom was on full  force! Ahhhhhhh!!

Shianne :)

Funny and Inspirational

Funny: Derek woke the youth up by singing "Little Bird." It was priceless. I don't know if they kids liked it, though.

Inspirational: Lexi found a wooden flower that had "Camp Tambo 2008" written on the back at Collin's wall last night at Coed Groups. Collin's wall is a stone wall Collin Karrenbrock chose to rebuild when...

Making mulch

Monday :)

 Hi again...its Cindy :)
We had a wonderful day on the mountain!!  I stayed here with a group of youth to do "yard work".  Derek had a group that cleaned out gutters, raked pine needles and ran a mulch machine!  Kristen had a group that did weeding in some of the flower beds located outside the cafeteria.  My ...

Day 2! :)

What a great day!  We went to Live Source which is a day camp for kids in the local area.  We had 10 of our kids go on this site.  They were able to play with the kids, teach them in their structured classes of math, reading, and computers.  It was so great to see our kids connect with the campers!  When we got there they

Amanda: Are there gas stations near here?

Sami: Nope.

Amanda: Seriously?

Sami: Yep, they don't have gas stations in Arkansas.

Amanda: Really?

Sami: Yep, in Arkansas, cars run on fairy dust.

Monday

 This is from Seth Stubblefield.
My favorite part of today was pulling weeds at Mount Sequoyah. We listend to the Beatles while working and then had a contest on how could pull out the longest weed root without it breaking. We pulled weeds for three hours!

The Beginning :)

We made it!  What a drive! I think I heard "Are we there yet?" several times!!  :)  The kids were great...especially the kids that were in the bus with no air!!  What troopers!

When we arrived, Sami's parents met up with us on the mountain with pizza for dinner :)  After dinner we went to vesper

Middle School Mission Trip

 Hi everyone!! (its Cindy)
We made it :)   With about 3 hours left to go, one of the buss's airconditioners broke.  I wont lie, it got pretty hot on that bus.  We stopped and bought water, opened all the windows and trudged along.  I was very impressed with how well the kids on this bus handled this.  We still played ...

More Blogging

This week has been so great so far, as a mission trip should be. We have had so many connections with each other, as well as with God. This trip has brought forward so many adventures and memories, hopefully more to come. I'm so sad that we've passed our halfway mark, but it comes sometime. Although as our leaders keep reminding us, this trip...
