We are here to serve, not to condemn—to welcome, not exclude—to love, not to judge.

Ministries

Children Ministries

St. John offers a variety of programs specifically designed for children to help them grow in their faith and become active members of our Christian family enjoying fellowship with one another. We teach them that we are all a part of the St. John family and we need to treat each other as family. We share in each others' joys and sorrows. We do not judge each other; we accept everyone for who they are. We try to balance the programs offered to children and youth between service, learning, and fun.

Sunday morning classes:

  • Nursery: birth through 1 year old
  • Toddler Sunday school: 2-3 year olds and 4-5 year olds. The toddler rooms have traditional Sunday school. The teachers' prepare the lesson and the students stay in their room throughout the entire lesson.
  • Faith Quest: Kindergarten through fifth grade students. Faith Quest operates on the rotation schedule. Students are divided into three grade groups; kindergarten and second, second and third, and fourth and fifth.

Youth Groups:

Youth Groups are arranged by grade levels; K2 (Kindergarten through second grade) and TFF (third, forth, and fifth grades). We do fun events such as going bowling, swimming, and hayrides and service events such as singing carols at Retirement Communities and collecting food for food pantries. The children's favorite Youth Group event is the “mini lock in” for the K-2 group, where they come to the church in their pajamas and play games, make a craft and eat a snack. They go home around 9pm. The TFF group has a “lock in,” where the students come to the church and stay the entire night.

Vacation Bible School:

This year's Vacation Bible School theme is Adventure to the Holy Land. The dates are July 5–9th, 2010 from 9am–12noon. Please contact Karla Bodine for more information.

Youth Ministries

St. John offers a variety of programs specifically designed for youth to help them grow in their faith and become active members of our Christian family enjoying fellowship with one another. We teach them that we are all a part of the St. John family and we need to treat each other as family. We share in each others' joys and sorrows. We do not judge each other; we accept everyone for who they are. We try to balance the programs offered to children and youth between service, learning, and fun.

Sunday morning classes:

  • 67s Sunday school: sixth and seventh grades
  • Confirmation Class: eighth grade
  • Senior High Bible Study: ninth through twelfth grades

Middle and High School Small Groups:

The groups are arranged by grade levels; Middle School (sixth through eighth grades) and High School (ninth through twelfth grades). Each group contains 8-10 students and is separated by boys and girls. It gives the youth a chance to take their faith further than they could in a regular Sunday school class by allowing them to speak their minds and ask questions that they would be hesitate asking in a larger group. They are also blessed with small group leaders who invest in their group. Two adults become like a spiritual parent for the group, facilitating the group discussion making sure the group stays open and welcoming to all members.

Student Leadership:

Student Leadership is a six month program that allows youth to go even deeper in their faith through leadership training and then, provides amazing opportunities for the students to use those new skills.

Youth Groups

Youth Groups are arranged similar to small groups: Middle and High school. We do fun events such as our Annual Picture Scavenger Hunt, Progressive Dinners, Lock-ins, and service projects such as cooking for the Ronald McDonald House and helping with the Emmaus Homes Christmas Party.

The Outer Limits

The Outer Limits is every other Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. for Middle and High School students. The first hour we eat snacks and talk. The second hour, we have a really fun and crazy activity like making slime, playing glow in the dark tag, or play blindfolded balloon games.

Retreats

Throughout the year, we have retreats to continue on our spiritual journey through a different setting other than church. Many of our retreats are at Camp MoVal. We talk about our faith, have fun, and worship. We also have retreats to prepare for big events such as Confirmation and mission trips.
